Today we'll begin to explore Abraham Lincoln's speeches and the arguments and ideas that are contained within. Last night, you read and annotated two speeches; The House Divided speech that he gave upon accepting the Republican nomination to be the United States Senator from Illinois; and one of the replies he made in a debate against Stephen Douglas during that campaign. Today you'll look closer at those speeches by following the instructions and completing the questions in this worksheet:
Lincoln Speeches Worksheet #1
When finished with the first two speeches, you can begin to prepare your homework for Thursday. Instructions are contained within the worksheet and on the assignment sheet.
